I love my cast iron skillets.

They are seasoned perfectly and clean as easily as a brand new non~stick skillet.

I season them by rubbing inside and out with shortening.  Place upside down on a cookie sheet with sides.  Put in a 200 degree oven for 4 hours.  Let cool and wipe the pan with paper towels.

To clean I use a very, very small amount of dish soap {pea size amount} and hot water.  Rinse and dry with paper towel then spray with small amount of cooking spray or wipe with dime amount of shortening.

Now for Cast Iron Green Beans

Heat the skillet.  Add a tablespoon of olive oil and a pat of butter {I use unsalted.}  Add rings of white or yellow onion, salt and pepper the rings.  Let brown slightly.

Next add the green beans, above I used canned green beans {drained} but fresh is awesome in cast iron too.

Let the beans brown lightly and add a fresh crushed garlic clove.
